Chinon is a remarkable medieval town located in France's Centre-Val de Loire region. This historic destination features the ancient château, once the royal residence of Henry II and his wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine, it is also the birthplace of Richard the Lionheart.
In 1429, Joan of Arc made her mark on Chinon by meeting Charles VII, inspiring him to reclaim his kingdom and make Chinon his capital. The Château de Chinon operates daily, with hours varying throughout the year. On the third Sunday of each month, an antique market (brocante) offers a fantastic opportunity to discover memorable treasures.
